Entering Race Results
A concise walkthrough for scorekeepers to create a race and enter finishing results quickly. Before you begin
- Any Series for the race should be created, and using the correct Scoring System. See the main Getting Started topic.
- Competitors should be created with sail numbers. You can add competitors while entering results, but it's faster to enter those ahead of time.
Quick entry workflow
- Open the Series or Regatta page and click New Race. Set the date and fleet.
- A panel at the bottom of the screen will show sail numbers. Click on buttons in this panel to add finishers in order. For large fleets, dismiss the button panel with X and type partial sail numbers into the entry box, choose from autocomplete, and press Enter to add the competitor.
- Supporter clubs have Handwriting recognition (Camera) and speech recognition (Microphone) enabled.
- To enter score codes (e.g., DNF, OCS), enter the competitor as if they finished, but then select from the score code menu. In speech recognition, you can say a three letter code after a sail number to change the code selection.
- If a result is provisional, mark the race as Provisional before saving; this will flag the series results as provisional until confirmed.
- Save the race. Series results are recalculated automatically after save.
Tips for speed
- For most club races, a fleet that matches a class of boat is the best choice.
- Don't enter DNC boats. Any competitor that is not added to a race will receive a DNC result.
- Smaller fleets prefer the buttons. Larger fleets prefer typing sail numbers.
- Use autocomplete to avoid typing full competitor names or sail numbers.
- If you track times, enable "Track Times" for the race to capture elapsed and clock times.
Troubleshooting
If competitors do not appear in autocomplete, verify their fleet membership. You can add missing competitors directly from the race editor.
Make sure the race date falls within an existing season.
If the series you'd like to add to the race doesn't appear as an option, make sure that the series isn't limited to other dates and that the series is assigned to the season matching the race date.
